Micro-Liposuction Surgery

Body Liposuction or Liposculpture is a cosmetic procedure for removing disproportionate fat deposits of the hips, saddlebags, thighs, knees, arms, breasts or abdomen, to improve the appearance of these areas.

Facial Liposuction can decrease fat under the chin and along the jaw line. The fat is removed by gentle negative pressure. Small tunnels are created with suction cannulas only 2 to 3 millimeters in diameter allowing the skin to remain connected to the muscle by multiple fibrous attachments. Incisions are extremely small and do not need stitches. Not all the fat is removed, just enough to help re-define, sculpture and improve the contour of the area being liposuctioned.

Dr. Newman's Technique has evolved over years of training and experience with liposuction surgeons in the United States, Europe, and South America and he only uses microcannulas with tumescent technique to achieve the smoothest results possible with the highest level of safety.

What is the tumescent technique?
The tumescent technique of liposuction gives significantly improved results with less bruising. Large volumes of fluid containing special medications are infused into the areas of disproportionate fat before the liposuction is begun. This reduces the bruising and swelling after surgery. Many procedures are performed under this local anesthetic technique without other forms of anesthesia.

Will the fat come back?
The fat cells that are removed by liposuction do not grow back. If the patient later gains or loses weight, the change tends to be distributed proportionately over the entire body. About 90% of patients can see significant improvement in their silhouette by one week after surgery. However, the ultimate results following liposuction usually require one to three months to be fully achieved.

What are the risks involved with liposuction?
As with any surgical procedure, liposuction is associated with certain expected side effects such as bruising, swelling, and temporary numbness. Although irregularities of the skin are possible following liposuction, this side effect is minimized by the Micro Cannulas and Tumescent Technique used by Dr. Newman. As judged by current experience, liposuction is quite safe. Serious complications such as blood clots, infection, allergic reactions and anesthetic problems are extremely rare in the United States. This procedure is an outpatient procedure and most patients return to work and physical activity within four days. A custom support garment is provided to all patients after the procedure and is worn for one week. This garment is made of the highest quality material and is quite comfortably worn under clothes. Liposculpture is only performed to improve body contour and is not performed for weight loss. All of our patients undergo complete medical evaluation with laboratory testing prior to surgery.
