Chemical Peels

Improve
Fine Lines, Wrinkles, And Uneven Pigmentation
Chemical peeling is another modality
which can be used to remove the superficial layers of unwanted
facial and neck skin in order to produce a tighter, less wrinkled,
and more youthful appearance. Different types of chemicals applied
to the facial skin have been found to remove the skin to varying
degrees. There are three categories of chemical peels, depending
on the desired depth of skin removal: superficial, medium (TCA),
and deep. The superficial peels are performed with salicylic acid
which is very safe and also controls pigmentation more effectively
than glycolic peels. Dr. Newman does not recommend the deep
chemical peels because he can achieve more consistent and safe
deeper resurfacing with his laser expertise. Chemical peels are
used to improve fine lines and wrinkles, improve uneven
pigmentation, efface shallow acne scars, and improve the
appearance of sun-damaged skin of both the face and neck. Dr.
Newman uses superficial chemical peels to treat the neck area to
blend with the facial skin when both areas are in need of
rejuvenation. It is a less costly procedure that laser resurfacing
and can achieve similar results when mild resurfacing is desired.
As with laser resurfacing, after treatment you can expect
improvement in wrinkling and a tighter, more youthful appearance
to the chemically treated area.
About
Facial and Neck Skin Resurfacing
Your skin protects your body from infection, shielding it from
harmful substances that might otherwise challenge your health.
Time, sun exposure, harsh wind, pollutants, and even hormones can
all effect your skin adversely, aging and etching it with lines,
discolorations, scars, or other imperfections. While these
blemishes are not dangerous, they often detract from your natural
beauty. At Premier Plastic Surgery, Dr. Newman
offers customized treatments for each patient depending upon the
skin tone, color, and type of damage present. We have experience
treating all skin types including Asian and Mediterranean
patients. His expertise focuses on
Laser
Resurfacing, the new micro-dermabrasion technology - Diamond NewApeel, and
Chemical Peels described above. |
