GFX Relaxed Expressions™ is a new minimally invasive
procedure to reduce and eliminate frown lines. Botox is
currently the most popular treatment for the reduction of forehead
frowning in the "glabellar area" which is the part of the forehead
in between the eyebrows. The US Food & Drug Administration approved
the use of Botox for the temporary reduction of forehead frowning in
2002 as a cosmetic indication. The new GFX procedure is being
reviewed for a similar indication but for a longer duration of
effect. This procedure is one of the most exciting developments in
Facial Aesthetic Surgery as it offers the Plastic Surgeon and
Patients an alternative treatment to the use of Botox.

GFX Relaxed Expressions™ is a technology which uses targeted radiofrequency (rf)
energy to weaken motor nerves which connect to the forehead muscles
responsible for frowning. The procedure is performed in the office
with local anesthesia or can be combined with other Facial Aesthetic
Surgical procedures. The GFX pen is held by the treating doctor and
placed under the skin through a single puncture site. The GFX pen
has "smart" technology which allows the doctor to locate and confirm
the area to be targeted with rf energy. The doctor then delivers the
energy selectively resulting in an immediate relaxation of the tense
frowning muscles of the forehead.

Dr. James Newman is one of the few Plastic Surgeons in the world
to perform this procedure and has treated over 100 frown muscles for
patients. He is currently leading the FDA submission trial to
establish the longevity of the procedure. Patients have results
lasting at least as long as Botox and we are gathering data to go
beyond the duration of effect with Botox.
