Q. How
do I know if cosmetic enhancement is right for me?
A.
Individuals considering plastic surgery of the face should discuss
their expectations with a board certified facial plastic surgeon. While surgery is designed to change or enhance the physical
appearance, it can also have the effect of enhancing self-confidence,
self-esteem, and happiness. For each individual, a unique set of
circumstances guides their desires. Our doctors listen and engage
your concerns so that your experience will be a positive one. Often
times, less invasive procedures are applicable and should be the primary
treatment. The best way of determining what is right for you is to
have a personal consultation in our office. Please visit our
Appointment page to schedule a
convenient time for your consultation.

choosing a surgeon, how important is board certification?
A.
Physicians who have completed surgical residencies approved by the
American Board Of Medical Specialties and completed a rigorous oral and
written examination as well as demonstrating proficiency in surgical
skills and judgment are certified by the American Board Of Facial Plastic
And Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Newman is certified by this board and is an Assistant Professor of
Surgery at Stanford University. Dr. Newman feels that achieving
board certification is the minimum requirement and that prospective
patients should look beyond this for experience and reputation. Dr.
Newman has helped hundreds of patients with his surgical expertise and
care as a physician.

Q. What
are the risks of plastic surgery?
A.
Any surgical procedure carries risks, and plastic surgery is no
exception. Fortunately, the field of plastic surgery rarely has
serious problems which can be life threatening. The most common
risks include a wound infection or visible scar. The good news is
that these unwanted problems are preventable and treatable. Our
surgeons and his staff constantly strive to minimize the risks of
developing a complication by the following means: thorough
the careful preparation of patients prior to surgery with health risk
assessments, education of our patients about their preoperative and
postoperative course, maintaining the highest level of safety at our
facility with trained staff, state-of-the-art equipment and close
patient monitoring with board certified anesthesiologist.
