About Dr. James Newman - Premier Plastic Surgery

Education:
James Newman, MD graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Baylor University before entering medical school at the University of Texas on an academic scholarship. While in medical school he received the Jimmy Dickinson Award recognizing the top student in anatomy and went on to receive Honors Recognition in Surgery. He graduated in the top of his class and received the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha award.

Background:
After receiving his MD degree, Dr. Newman went on to complete his internship and residency in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery at Stanford University. This clinical training and surgery experience focused on plastic and reconstructive surgery for five consecutive years. During this period Dr. Newman developed an interest in cosmetic plastic surgery and performed over 1000 surgeries. Dr. Newman published several scientific papers in plastic surgery and laser cosmetic surgery. He continued his clinical interest in laser and cosmetic surgery and completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford where he also joined the Faculty. He is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology . Because of his specialized interest and desire to give personalized care, he created a private practice in the Bay Area.

Training In Laser Procedures:
With the expansion of lasers in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Newman completed an additional fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery with a special emphasis on laser surgery. At Premier Plastic Surgery, Dr. Newman uses Carbon Dioxide, Erbium, KTP, Diode, and YAG lasers to treat a broad spectrum of conditions. In addition, Dr. Newman uses lasers to perform common operations such as facelifts and eyelid surgery.

Professional Activities:
In addition to serving on the clinical faculty at Stanford, he serves as a specialized consultant to the Palo Alto Veteran's Hospital and the Valley Medical Center in Santa Clara. Dr. Newman lectures on the latest developments in Facial Plastic Surgery annually and holds several advisory board positions with institutions developing new technology for plastic surgery. While he performs a large number of surgical cases at Premier Plastic Surgery in San Mateo, he is on staff at Mills-Peninsula, El Camino and Stanford University Hospitals.

Experience & Philosophy:
Dr. Newman's practice is limited to facial plastic surgery and functional nasal/sinus surgery. His goal is to achieve excellent surgical outcomes with the least invasive techniques. Dr. Newman will provide you with expert counseling and take an active role in your recovery process with his supportive staff. He believes in helping people in need who are less fortunate than ourselves and donates his surgical expertise, medical supplies, and money to the nonprofit group Humanity United in Giving which provides medical and surgical care to children in orphanages around the world.
